Umbra

Two Rosettes are projected onto the space’s ceiling and floor, recalling an image of a cathedral window and its reflection.  The rosettes were filmed out of an Oud, a string instrument identified with Arabic music, as it was playing multiple variations of a Jewish liturgical hymn. The sounds were doubled and played in parallel. The sounds resonate throughout the space and present a unique harmonic relationship.

Umbra was specifically optimized to the space of The Ticho House Museum in Jeruaslem, as part of the ‘Zoom 2016’ exhibition, Curated by Ghila Limon, Tal Bechler and Timna Seligman.  Stills Documentation and Oud Cinematography: Hila Ido. Sound Design: Aviad Zinemanas. Oud: Yaniv Raba. Video Documentation Cinematography: Nadav Porat Chomsky, Spectator: Omer Ido.
